Sensei Kim C. Jephta 3rd Degree Black Belt
8th September 2010
ABOUT MYSELF:
I am 21 and have been doing Kenpo Karate under the Tiger Academy of Martial Arts in South Africa for most all of my life. Being the daughter of the current Chief Instructor of TAMASA, I was running on the Dojo floor from the age of 2 years old, but joined the normal classes at the age of 4.
At that age, I really didn’t know what was going on around me, but I was enjoying myself. At the age of 6, I was a junior purple belt (the 3rd belt in our system), and fought my first competition, where I took 1st place. Since then, I just kept progressing through the grades and tournaments and never looked back. I was fortunate to be graded by Shihan Brian Wiehahn up to the grade of junior blue belt, before he sadly passed on. Shihan Brian Wiehahn was a regular visitor at our house and was like a second father to me.
I won many medals and trophies, as it was not of importance to me anymore than the experience, knowledge and support from family and friends. Excitement, fun filled memories and new friendship gained at the Tournament Arena are important to me too. I was also the 1st female to attain junior black belt and currently the highest female Black Belt in the Kenpo Karate South Africa under the Tiger Academy of Martial Arts Umbrella.
I am with our Academy for 18 years and been teaching for more than 7 years. I have my own dojo in Mitchell’s Plain where I currently reside. Through the years I have learnt, and now apply the Tiger Academy of Martial Arts Instructor syllabus in my teaching. I have the students best interests at heart. Honesty, respect, trust, believing in one self and show that you can get things done are important values of a Kenpo student. I’m still going strong, some of my students are now black belts and I can only be proud of myself and thank Sensei Cobe for pushing me.
My current grade is 4th Degree Black Belt, which I attained on the Academy’s 2010 S.A Kenpo Karate Camp in November 2010.
